September is usually a big month for us here at Soberocity! It is a month to celebrate our community as well as to reflect back on the journey it took for us all to get here. This month is extra special since we unveiled the brand new Soberocity website. This new site has made mobile navigation much easier, and we have introduced our brand new Facebook Group to help us all to stay connected.

We also have virtual panels going on almost every week! We kicked off Sober September with our How Trauma Effects Addiction Recovery panel that featured three women sharing their struggles with their sobriety and how trauma impacted their sobriety process. Then on the 10th we had our Fresh Faces of Sobriety panel where we featured three TikTokers who have chosen to recover out loud and share their path to recovery with their followers.

To wrap up the month we will be co-hosting an open mic night with Equilibrium. Virtual Open Mic Night, opens the floor to anyone looking to showcase their pandemic project to friends of Soberocity and Equilibrium. The event will be kicked off with a reading from best selling author of The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober, Catherine Gray. Catherine will be reading from her new book, Sunshine Warm Sober.

Our open mic night will also feature original artwork from Martha Duke, and featured readings from Soberocity’s resident poet, Mark Nyman, Soberocity’s resident spirituality blogger, Gary Boucher, and much more!

We encourage anyone who would like to perform a song, showcase their artwork, read a poem or short story, to send their submission(s) to Eve at [email protected] Eve will then review your work and give you a time slot to present your piece to all who attend the open mic night on Zoom.

We hope to see you all on the 24th!!!
