Recovery Resource Hub

While searching for current events to write about this month, I stumbled upon a great new resource for those in need. Handling addiction and navigating through recovery can be difficult or near impossible alone, so having resources, information, or places to reach out to can always help. According to the SoberNation, Google reported in August an increase of search terms that included: “rehab near me,” “addiction treatment near me,” and “How to help an addict.” Seeing the trend, Google acted by creating a new tool to help those seeking addiction treatment. This tool is called “Recovery Resource Hub.”

The site offers two main features: “Find it” and “Map it.” Find it will let you search for specific treatment types near your geographical area. Some of the categories in “Find it” include: Behavioral Health and Treatment, Recovery Support, Therapy, Housing, and more. The Recovery Support category already has over 60,000 results with treatment centers, support groups, and other recovery help across the country.

The “Map it” feature allows users to include a resource on the list for people to find, this requires creating an account on the site. The “Map it” feature is unique and inspiring, as it creates a sense of community amongst those struggling or looking to help on the internet. The “Map it” feature allows you to potentially share a resource, therapist, support group, or pharmacy that you found has helped.

For anyone struggling to find help, the Recovery Resource Hub can be a great place to start and help make finding support less of a taunting or overwhelming task. Google has been using it’s platform to help addicts, last year Google shared locations to safely dispose of old prescriptions. Now Google is once again actively helping those in need by providing accessible information that’s easy to find. Below is a link to the Recovery Resource Hub.

About Mark Nyman

My name is Mark Nyman. I am 22 years old, and in May I will graduate with a Bachelor’s in English Literature and a Minor in Music. I currently work as a resident assistant for my university. I also have worked as a college writing tutor for 2 years. I have blogged for a site called the Hero Journal, which is the website for a podcast called Myrelationshipwithlove. I focused on writing about love, positivity, and hope. I was not paid for this, it was more of a hobby at the time. I excel at writing motivational poetry, themes, and other forms of writing. I support those going through sobriety and want to provide them the light at the end of the tunnel. I believe everyone needs support, and that writing is the best way to reach people’s hearts.
