We meet some individuals and find that beauty is only skin deep. Often wishing that a public figure’s interior was as breathtaking as their exterior.
In a society where so many have turned to obsessing about their favorite celebrities and wanting to emulate their beauty routines and lifestyles. It has become a rare thing to meet a woman who uses her star power to promote a positive message in the hopes of spreading the message to others.
Jennifer Gimenez is a well known model and actress who got her start in Hollywood blockbusters that have turned classic; such as Blow, Vanilla Sky, and Charlie’s Angels. The performance of Gimenez’ lifetime goes way beyond any silver screen productions. She is the navigator and star of her hard earned recovery from drugs and alcohol.
“I’m an open book.” says Gimenez. “I’m in a place where I’m raw and vulnerable.” She says of recent life challenges that many would view as set backs, these things only make her stronger. In her 12th and a half year of being clean and sober Gimenez spends most of her time spreading the word on how her life was changed in a positive way upon getting sober. Taking the past few years off from entertainment, she has been a spokesperson for Royal Life Centers. She travels and shares her personal experience with others in hopes to spread the message of how to live a better life.
“The most I focus on my recovery, the more my life seems to open up.” She says about the work she does with Royal Life Centers.
Her first venture into the industry was televised on VH1’s Sober House, in 2009 a spin off of the popular Celebrity Rehab series that appeared on VH1 which was orchestrated by Dr. Drew Pinskey.
Giving her the chance to become a rehab technician on the show may have been a surprising choice to many considering she barely had experience working in the field. Dr Drew believed in her when he offered her the position and she rose to the occasion. When asked why he chose her despite her limited experience, he said “Because it’s people like you who prove me wrong.” Giminez was one of the most popular and prominent figures on the popular show which is still spoken about today.
“I know that working with others is something I want to do forever.” she says about her journey since she started with the show in 2009. “Treatment saved my life with the structure and skills it provided, but I found that the real work started after treatment.”
